CASE IH Sprayers: The Balance of Power, Technology, and Cost Efficiency

06/10/2026

Today, the Ukrainian agricultural marketplaces exceptionally high demands on crop protection machinery. Within tight agronomic timeframes, a sprayer must operate with maximum productivity, precision, and efficiency. Maxim Pavlenko, Product Manager at Titan Machinery Ukraine, explains why CASE IH self-propelled sprayers continue to lead the Ukrainian market, highlights the key features of both American- and Brazilian-manufactured models, and shares insights on selecting the ideal machine for a farming operation.

Key Advantages and Market Position

— Mr. Pavlenko, what is the main advantage of CASE IH sprayers compared to competitors?

— The key strength of CASE IH lies in its perfect balance of price, quality, and technological sophistication. These machines are reliable, highly automated, yet do not cost “all the money in the world.” This combination has enabled them to become a truly mass-market product in Ukraine. A few years ago, the brand held more than 50% of the self-propelled sprayer market. Today, the market situation is somewhat more dynamic, but CASE IH confidently maintains its leadership thanks to its versatility.

Model Range: Brazil vs. USA

— Which models are currently available in Ukraine, and what are the main differences between them?

— We offer machines from two manufacturing locations. The Brazilian lineup is represented by the Patriot 4050, a “perfect middle ground” and one of the largest machines in its segment.

The American lineup is broader and includes three models:

  • Patriot 3250: The entry-level model equipped with a 6.7-liter engine (268 hp rated / 311 hp maximum). The tank capacity is available in either 3,000 or 3,785 liters. This year, demand has been exceptionally strong, and all imported units have already been sold.

  • Patriot 4350 and 4450: Larger machines built on a shared frame and wheelbase. They are equipped with the powerful Cursor 9 engine (8.7 liters). The Patriot 4350 features a 4,542-liter tank and delivers between 335 and 374 hp, while the flagship Patriot 4450 comes with a 6,000-liter tank and up to 415 hp. Their transport speed reaches 59 km/h.

Choosing the Right Model Based on Farm Size

— How should farmers select the appropriate model according to their land area?

— In general, it makes sense to consider a self-propelled sprayer starting from 500 hectares, but from a return-on-investment perspective, the optimal threshold begins at 1,000 hectares.

• For farms up to 2,000 hectares, the Patriot 4050 (Brazil) or Patriot 3250 (USA) equipped with 30- or 36-meter booms are ideal choices.

• For larger operations and intensive workloads, the Patriot 4350 or 4450 are better suited. The choice between them often depends on water logistics: if water supply is well organized, a 4,500-liter tank is sufficient; if transport distances are significant, the 6,000-liter tank is the better option.

Technical Features: Common and Unique Characteristics

— What features are shared across the Patriot lineup, and what distinguishes individual models?

— A common feature is the 50/50 weight distribution concept. Thanks to the machine layout—with the cab positioned at the front, the engine at the rear, and the tank in the center, the sprayer remains stable at all times, requires no additional ballast, and offers excellent traction and field performance. All models have also received updated hood designs and comfortable cabs with standardized controls.

However, there are several significant differences:

  1. Ground Clearance. The Brazilian model offers greater ground clearance—1.73 m compared to the standard 1.4 m on the American models. However, mechanical extensions are available for the American machines, increasing clearance to 1.85–1.92 m.

2.Materials. American machines feature stainless-steel tanks (both main and rinse tanks), while Brazilian machines use high-quality plastic tanks.

3.Guidance Systems and Precision Technology. Brazilian machines come standard with the AFS Pro 1200 system. American models provide greater flexibility, allowing not only standard solutions but also the installation of a full suite of systems from Raven.

4.Fuel Efficiency. The Patriot 4050 is equipped with ECO Mode, which optimizes engine speed to reduce fuel consumption.

Maximum Efficiency and Adaptability

— Under what conditions do these sprayers deliver the best performance?

— Virtually under any conditions. Thanks to the AIM Command FLEX II system (individual nozzle control with pulse-width modulation, enabling precise application rates, optimal nozzle performance, and consistent operation across varying speeds), high-capacity pumps, and the ability to increase ground clearance, we can operate in crops up to 2 meters tall.

A unique feature is our boom stabilization sensor system. Unlike competing solutions, these sensors can operate in two modes simultaneously, detecting both the soil surface and crop canopy. This allows the sprayer to maintain the ideal boom height at any stage of crop development.

Economics and Service

— How does a self-propelled sprayer influence farm profitability?

— The main factors are speed and precision. A self-propelled machine is significantly more maneuverable than a trailed sprayer and features hydraulic track-width adjustment (from 2.96 to 4.06 m) while in motion.

The AIM Command FLEX II system delivers up to 20 pulses per second. This ensures consistent droplet size and application rates regardless of travel speed or turns. As a result, there is no over-application, and expensive crop protection products are used more efficiently. Fuel consumption remains remarkably low at only 0.4–0.7 L/ha.

— How important is the dealer’s role in this process?

— Service is the foundation. Purchasing a quality machine is not enough to be properly configured, and the operator must be trained.

All new sprayers are equipped with a telematics system that includes a free subscription (from 2025 onward, for 50 years). This enables our specialists to remotely connect to the display, identify errors, and assist customers without the need for a field visit.

Titan Machinery Ukraine has always been an innovator in this segment. We do not simply sell equipment; we provide precision farming solutions such as the Carbon Bee system (artificial intelligence for weed recognition), which takes crop protection to an entirely new level.

Conclusion

In summary, the CASE IH Patriot combines proven reliability, ease of maintenance, and industry-leading application systems that make it a leader in Ukraine’s agricultural fields.
