KUHN AXIS fertilizer spreaders - unmatched precision in application

Achieving stable yields of crops using modern technologies is closely linked to using mineral fertilizers, which determine plant productivity and affect product quality.

For the application of granular mineral fertilizers and the nourishment of crops, KUHN (France) offers mounted mineral fertilizer spreaders of the AXIS model, which are well-known to Ukrainian farmers. The characteristic features of these machines are simple design, ease of use, precise application rate adherence, and trouble-free maintenance.

AXIS spreaders are manufactured in several modifications, primarily differing in hopper capacity and fertilizer application width. For instance, the hopper capacity can range from 1000 to 4200 liters, and the working width can range from 12 to 50 meters.

Most components of KUHN spreaders' construction, such as the supporting body, hopper base, outlet apertures, cylindrical shafts, and protective plates of spreading discs, are made of stainless steel, ensuring a long service life. For example, the first replacement of oil in the body of the angular multiplier, which transmits torque to the discs and agitator, is required only after the first 10 years of spreader operation.

The spreaders are equipped with fertilizer direction valves, an exclusive development of KUHN. They regulate the place of fertilizer drops onto the spreading discs, determining the machine's working width. The valve directs the fertilizer flow to contact the disc blades at a specific point to increase the spreading accuracy.

For a considerable time now, AXIS spreaders have been equipped with the QUANTRON electronic control unit, which monitors the fertilizer application rate proportional to the movement speed. The tractor operator receives information on the fertilizer application rate on a graphical screen. To increase or decrease the application rate, it is only necessary to adjust the size of the outlet aperture accordingly. The electronics respond to any moment of change in the implement's speed, controlling the shutters to maintain the set rate.

AXIS spreaders are also equipped with OPTI-POINT, an automatic system for determining the optimal opening and closing moments of dosing shutters using GPS signals depending on the selected fertilizer type.

Adjusting AXIS spreaders to the desired application rate is convenient and straightforward, without the need for special equipment. For correct adjustment, each spreader comes with a catalog of photographs depicting fertilizers of various shapes, natural colors, and sizes, as well as tables of the corresponding application rates for almost all types of mineral fertilizers on the world market. The figures in the tables are obtained through practical trials, which explains the high quality of the spreaders' performance.

To adjust the spreader to the desired application rate, it is necessary first to determine the type of fertilizer, and the photo catalog helps identify the shape and size of the granules. The catalog helps select a fertilizer with characteristics as close as possible to those indicated. The same page also specifies the page number in the table for further adjustments.

Modern AXIS spreaders are equipped with KUHN's exclusive Electronic Massflow Control (EMC) system, which, through weighing, measures and adjusts the application rate separately on the left and right discs. The system ensures perfect accuracy of the application rate every second for each plant. Thanks to the EMC system, the implement is not sensitive to work on slopes.

The EMC system ensures the set application rate at each outlet aperture and the required fertilizer dose at the necessary location. Suppose a random obstacle (such as a stone or a lump of accumulated fertilizer) obstructs the fertilizer outlet. In that case, the system automatically adjusts the cross-section of the outlet from the appropriate side. The EMC system is adapted for use with ISOBUS technologies.

Considering that not all farms can afford to purchase modern machinery, KUHN dealers offer financing services from leading banks.
